This past Friday, December 12th, I had the pleasure of hosting another Warm Feeling holiday benefit show to raise funds and collect donations for Jersey City’s Triangle Park Community Center.
Last year, my recently blown-out knee and dependence on crutches limited the show’s possibilities.
However, this year, I am thankfully independently mobile, allowing for the opportunity to make Warm Feeling a more elaborate show.
I am happy to report that we raised a hefty amount of funds for Triangle Park Community Center, as well as many new toys, coats, and food donations. We also had a wonderful night full of wild, creative comedy.
Along with the successful show and the donations collected, I am truly touched by how the show evolved into a community-oriented, driven event. Each week, the show grew bigger and better, thanks to people who were willing to contribute their generosity and expertise.
- Abigail Dankert for supporting me in all my comedy endeavors and for making the stage and set look beautiful and merry.
- Rebekah Dankert for being instrumental in crafting the fireplace and windows, and for having all-around incredible ideas for decorating the stage.
- Jason Messeri for leading the film crew and production of the show, and for helping me brainstorm ideas over beers and food.
- Jason Yamauchi for coming in clutch and contributing his Hi-8 expertise to the show.
- Clara Ritterman-Peña for donating her menorah and latkes to the show and for helping complete and design the In Jest zine.
- Joe McAndrew for creating the outstanding Warm Feeling poster and mascot.
- Jessica DeCanto for taking on a whole new, unexpected role on the day of, and making sure people got checked in and seated.
- Rachel Tarzia for assisting with collecting donations and bringing even more joy to the night.
- Max Blake, for guarding those doors and not sneaking a vape sesh mid-show (kidding! you know I love ya!)
- Mike Weydert for beautifully capturing all of the photos you’re about to see and for always being a pleasure to be around.
- AJ, AJ, and Patrick for capturing the night so flawlessly and lending your film expertise out of the goodness of your hearts.
- Ruth Hayduk for being patient with me and for being an integral piece in making the show run so smoothly.
- Glenn Luttman for making us all sound amazing and handling audio logistics.
- Jeremy and Vanessa Berse for keeping everyone satiated with popcorn and refreshments.
- Alex Grubard for lending his Zoom recorder and for being a great friend who listened to me yammer about the show forever.
- Nick Fierro for crushing as always and for collaborating with me for months on developing the show.
- Jacob Shapiro and Steve Melone for lending their beautiful voices and guitar skills as Double Death Duty.
- Colin Armstrong for being an absolute star and cracking all of us up.
- Angel Yau for her incredible lobster facts and incorrigible appetite.
- Andrea Wang for educating all of us on the importance of fonts for a functioning democratic republic.
- Pat Byrne for all his valuable knowledge about running shows at WFMU, being hilarious, and for being an all-around stand-up guy.
- Chris Gethard for being the coolest and kindest man in comedy, and for his generous contribution to Triangle Park Community Center.
- Monica Shaw, Cynthia Anderson, and the rest of the team at Triangle Park Community Center for all of their efforts to support the Greenville neighborhood of Jersey City.
- WFMU for having us and helping promote the show despite it not being a WFMU show.
And of course, a special thank you to all who attended and donated. Without you and your contributions, the show would not be possible.
Thank you, everyone, for helping make this a special holiday season for so many.
